Can u keep any neons with it or fish like that
No definatly not as neons, aka tetras, will nip and tear the betta fins. Basically no other tropical fish can go in anything less than a 5gal and the majority will not be able to cope in an uncycled tank- bettas can only survive this because they have been bred this way for hundreds of years and have grown accustomed to it.

Is that y in most fish shops the betta's in outher thanks are all badly hurt and stuff

Depends what they are with, but male bettas do not make good community fish due to their unpredictable temperment, their not coping of being in well filtered tanks and also because they become the target of many fin nipping fish alot. Because they are slow movers in general due to their long flowing finnage holding them back all the time, they also find it hard to compete for food with other more streamlined and faster moving fish.

Female bettas make much better community fish because they do not have the long flowing fins of the males that hinder their movement and they have a better temperment on the whole and can usually hold their own in competeing with other fish for food too :) .

or you could even go 2.5 you can usualy get small bags of colorful gravel and you could get him some fake plants or something. I always get a small ornament for each of my bettas.

Sounds dreadful, beautiful fish in a tiny little tank, in completely fake surroundings.

How anyone can keep a fish in something as small as a 1 gallon tank I don't know.

Darn, I lost what I'd just typed. Nevermind, I'll try again. A good cheap tank is available from Wilkinsons. £5, 3 gallons, bigenough for a filter and heater if you're having them. Good range of deco always available, heres a couple of mine.

Yeah theres been alot of debate on size of betta tanks in recent months, apparently a 1 or 2gal tank is totally acceptable for male bettas but none the less the larger the tank you can afford for them the better- a 5gal tank is much better  .

I'd feel guilty every time I looked at it in a tank that small. :/

It would be nice to see every betta in a 10 gallon set up, but that's just not going to happen. Not everyone has the financial resources and space to do that. 2.5 gallons is acceptable and a decent home for a betta.
