Hi I seem to have a lot of micro snails all over my tank, they weren't there a few days ago and now seem to be all over everything. I will get a picture attached when my bluetooth works but they are around 3mm across and fairly see through, does anyone know how I can get rid of them? The only things added to the tank recently were a bit of cucumber a few days ago that was promptly eaten in a couple of hours and some Tetra Delica Brine Shrimp in that jelly like stuff.

Get yourself a group of Assassin Snails, they will clean them up for you :good:

Thanks I'll look into it, is my plec likely to eat them? All the other fish have had a go and simply spat them back out :(

Attached is a picture of one such creature although there's at least 50 I reckon that I can see at a glance.

They're probably malayasian trumpet snails, they'll munch up excess food. Feed less, and picking them out can help, they are more a nuisance than anything. I guess large amounts could increase the bioload, large groups will create alot of poop.

Did you add plants to your fish tank THEN discover the pest snails? That's mainly where they come from I think.

I don't think any of your fish will eat Assassin Snails, but i'm not 100% sure... maybe someone else can comment on that.

But a group of Assassin Snails won't take long to eat your pest snails, hopfuly

Hmm, I haven't added any plants since the tank was set up about 6 months ago, it's only in the last few days that I've actually seen them. I'll see how it goes over the next week or so (hopefully the snails won't get too big) and feed only once ever other day or so. Thanks for your help, I'll look into the Assassin snails (mainly cos they sound like such bad #16##### creatures :hyper:)

Thanks for your help so far guys!
