Mercy Killing

Shouldn't really keep guppys and betta togther as the betta will nip there fins or even kill them.

I was told the Guppy's might bully the betta biting his tail, so far though their all getting on well, only moved the betta to the training tank as he was being bullied by the Mitchell Brothers (Discus Twins)

a bit like Mark Fowler a HIV carrier passing it on to others and they die from it.

Lmfao.

Well he had it for 15yrs in the end..

It sounds to me like the whitespot keeps returning because it was never full cured. I treated my tank the full 30 days recommended. A couple weeks later it returned and I had to treat again. It never came back after that. Good luck.

Only the Guppy's that seem to suffer from it though once femme fatal gives it to them, the Endlers don't catch it just seems to bounce off them like chicken vinders after a run at the pub, oh and the odd Tetra seems to pop it's cloggs.

i had a similar problem, it was relentless. i treated with meds (can't remember which ones) every time there was a outbreak but it kept comeing back. Finally i switched meds to King British WS3, i treated for 2 weeks instead of the standard week, when it went away i ran a carbon filter for 2 weeks then even though the white spot was gone i started treatment for yet another 2 weeks. It's never returned. Just rememer to up the temp as far as your fish will allow, this speeds up the ich's life cycle, and increase aeration.

On the subject of mercy killing - I think its the most humane way of doing things if there is no hope for a fish, just make it as quick as possible.

lmfao = Laugh My F****** Ass Off

aw dont flush her, put her in a little tank of her own and see how she goes, as wilder said they dont get it from nothing, so keep a diary of what you feed her, what conditoner u use , keep it for a month or 2 and see if she stays clear, could be males are stressing her out ( lol.. doing her head in) and she may recover with a bit of peace and quiet,or the betta is?
if she gets it again do 2 rounds of treatment, but dont give up on her

shelagh x

White spot appears in a tank because it is introduced. Fish only ever get it again without anything new being added because when you treated it the first time you didn't eradicate all the pathogens.

Give your head a shake man. I hope this was just a stupid comment like we all make at times and it doesn't happen again because that wasn't right.

Calm down boys.

Surely comments like this are much more offensive, but everyone seems to think that's funny :/

Mark Albert Fowler was a fictional character in the popular British BBC soap opera EastEnders...

I'm aware he's a character in Eastenders. That doesn't get over the fact that you were belittling HIV.

I was talking of Mark Fowler, no one was talking of actual genuine HIV/Aids Carriers was they, you made a comment about killing a fish which no one else seemed to appreciate it didn't actually bother me as I ws just curious to a question. Trying to make up that I am belittling those people with HIV/Aids to throw the attention of the thoughts you had toward killing fish isn't going to help you either the comment was made by you and thats the end of it, doesn't need to be drawn out now does it just past over and forgotten about.

Maybe. But my reply was tongue in cheek and was meant as a cynical response to your original post re: HIV sufferers. It obviously didn't come across as such, for which I apologise - I would never flush a living fish down the loo.

Take it easy,

Pauly.

And I grew up watching Grange Hill which had Todd Carty/Mark Fowler in and he's ok so I apologise if I have caused offense about Mark Fowler and his HIV antics...

To add my 2 cents, if a fish of mine is beyond care (come on, somtimes you know its just too far gone), ill opt for Euthinasia.

thats the point, killing the guppy wont help, all the whitespot in the tank has to be killed, fish that are not showing visible signs can still have whitespot on the gills.
