I am sure this has been asked about or touched upon in the past, but I was too lazy to see if so or where, so I will ask. This forum seems to attract members from both the UK and the USA (me for one). However, a poster's location does not appear in the poster info in the forums. Is there any way this could be changed?

I ask this because it would make it a lot simpler and more effective for folks to be able to reply to posts about the local availability of fish and plants as well as providing advice/help on medications for sick fish. I find myself reluctant to respond to those sort of threads because I do not wish to waste my time and the time of the OP by offering info or suggestions that are useless because the medication I might suggest is not available in the UK.

Pretty good call there as some meds dont transpose or go by the same branding globally.
I will take this on board and see what, if anything can be done, but we don't want to end up with folks not sharing or divulging their information simply because others don't belong to the same geographical location that would totally go against the objectives of this forum.
Please give us a little time to mull this over.
Thank you for posting
Regards

Thanks for the fast response BigC.

I would note that most of the other forums where I have been or am currently a member usually permit each user to decide if their location will be displayed or not, just as with their sex or birth date. Some do require that it must be displayed if you list items for sale in the site's classified forum.

I like the forums that put a little copy of their nation's flag under or near their user name or avatar picture. I wonder if IPBoard has something like that.

I've talked with John and he informed me that there used to be some kind of functionality on the older version of the board software (pre upgrade). He is having a look now to see if this version still carries the option.

Any progress on this?

I will not reply to threads/posts which are about meds, disease/illness, where to buy or for sale without this feature unless the poster states where they are in the post. There are simply too many new posts to wade through for me to be willing to check each poster's profile to figure out where they live to determine what one might suggest in response.

I would add that this is the only fish forum I frequent that doesn't have poster locations available. Many sites will not permit posting in their classifieds unless this info is included.

Hi TTA.
Nothing concrete as yet,
I will let you know on the outcome of this.
It is currently on the table and under review alongside many other facets.
As your aware, the wheels of TFF turn slowly due to the various geographical time-zones of the Moderators.
Sorry for the delay
