im new to this, but i like the look of livebearers more than any others so far

and, i hate to go off-topic, but i saw a couple of fish that looked like that at my lfs, but they had plain, platy tails.. my brother said they looked liek they may have been dyed... how likely do you think this is?

If it's a sword then it's unlikely to be dyied but only way we could tell though is to see the fish.
The genu that causes this fin ytpe is called the lyretail gene, and usualy affects all the fish or just the dorsal fin. So i'm guessing you saw the normal ltretail sword which are nice fish.

Gill may be a problem with BLA show you have to enter fish as a pair, you cant enter a single fish.
FBAS adn A of A you can enter singel fish.

Dave said it would not be a problem.
I am growing out her fry and have 1 yellow, 1 black, 1 silver marbled dunno sexes yet. They are in one of the Daphnia Tanks and happily eatng them.
