Having fallen in love with my Pandas all over again when I put them in with the C.pymaeus; I decided to get some new cories for my bigger tank too.

So ... on Monday I bought six C. trilineatus (labelled, of course, as C.julii) ... they're doing fine, except that one of them isn't a trilineatus and he sits on his own a lot of the time. Meet Norman ("no mates"):

Having trawled through a lot of Googled pictures I'm guessing he's a C.schwartzi ..... would you agree? The only other picture that looked a bit like him was C.ornatus ... what's the difference between them?

I shall go back to the lfs and see if I can find him a couple of friends.

I'd agree its a C.schwartzi.

Having only looked at pictures on the web, the ornatus have a different, more angular body shape and a longer nose - along with an orange patch across the shoulders...

Thanks smithrc - I didn't notice that orange patch - thought it was just where the light was shining!!

And thanks too Coryman ... that does look just like him. But I'm guessing that's very bad news for him, unless there's more CW028's amongst the "C.julii's" in the shop. I'm fairly certain they didn't have any C.pulcher for sale.

I'll go and have a look tomorrow.

Thanks once again Coryman. :)

That's a very attractive fish, Majjie. Best of luck finding some more. I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of them and of your C. trilineatus too.

Very interesting. I often notice that same exact fish with C. trilineatus in LPS tanks. They are often lumped together in the giant chain stores that I frequent (ends with a mart). They are an attractive fish, indeed.

I think he's lovely

Let's hope that there are some more like him left in the lfs!

And I will try to get some pictures of the C.trilineatus ... but they're much more active than he is ... they're all over the tank. He obligingly sat and posed for me (even if it was amongst plants).
