Meet my newest hamster...

Well, yesterday my beloved Mango died giving birth. She was a great little dwarf hamster, and we didnt even know that her 'girl friend' was a boy. Mango was too young to have the babies and the one that killed her was coming out of her feet first. We had to pay $300 at the vet just so they could tell us to go to the exotic vet. Well, we went and flamed PETCO for selling us a sick and pregant hamster, and in return they gave us a 'rare' european hamster. XP The hamster may be great, but she's just an average Syrian hamster. XD European hamsters are the size of Beagles and are nit even kept as pets! Well, I cant decide a name for my pretty litttle Cinnamon banded female... I was thinking Smoochy? Which of these names do you like? :::::

Baby.
Snuggles.
Peach.

I know, they are girl but she is so cuddleyt and cute! Here are her pictures... and you dont have to pick a name of the list- just suggest!

I think Smoochy is cute though, hehe. And I know I shouldnt be holdingher as I just got her, but she is just sooo tame and sweet. Now I have 6 hamsters..... LOL I love my little guys so much.

I know way more about hamsters than I know about fish- so any questions feel free to ask me! And lol just to make sure you guys dont have any syrians together - THEY ARE SOLITARY AND WILL FIGHT TO THE DEATH IF HOUSED TOGETHER!

That's it I'm getting a hamster, they're just too cute! I had a lovely syrian called "Chamois" years ago. She died at a very ripe age of 4 and lived throught wet tail which she had when we got her and also lost all her hair when she was 3 and a half!

Your little hamster is very cute and I think she would suit "Cleo" or "Peach"

I'd love to see some more pics of her closer up.

I have 3 hamsters right now. One from a rescue, one rescued from an auction by my shelter that I work at. And one from a pet store that I felt bad for.

I like the name Smoochy... she's gorgeous btw...

I just adopted two hamsters from my lfs. I already keep gerbils, is there anything specific to hamsters you think is important to know? They are in separate, good sized cages.

hellohefalump, This thread has some info in about hamster care, but there are so many many websites that could tell you lots more - or you could just do a "hamster" seach here on the pet forum for loads of other threads.
In essence they are fairy "easy" little critters to care for and as long as their basic needs are met, they are happy chappy
Nice varied diet - not too much sunflower seeds (even though they luuuurve them), a good variety of greens, but not as much of the type that has a high water content (such as iceberg lettuce etc.). Also steer clear from sticky stuff or dairy products such as cheese they can stuff in their pouches. A tiny little bit at a time is fine, but not good to have a lump sitting in a cheek pouch that can cause bacterial growth and possible infection. Make sure they have stuff to gnaw on - some hamster teeth have a tendency to grow quite long and this can become quite nasty.
