Wal-Mart got their new shipment of Bettas in today, you should have seen the crowd of people looking at them and picking up these little tanks to take them home in. :( There was a section of girls, that no one was even bothering to give a second glance because most of them were dead. :-( I walked over, took the dead ones to their "sink" and told the fish person I was not impressed. Their was one girl who was still alive, so I took her home.
She is one of the largest females I have ever seen! She almost doubles the size of most my boys. Here are a few pictures, I named her LG, which stands for "Lucky Girl"

 She is quite lovely. Is that just coloring on her fins, or does she have some sort of infection going on there?

She's a babydoll.
That's some beautiful irridescent coloring on her fins, I believe.
Looks like she had a hard trip with the clamped fins.
She'll come around!
Nice find! :)

I believe it's a red wash... that's what it looks like to me.

But actually now that I look at that picture, and look at her... Does anyone know what this is?

Hmm.
I'm not sure - I would keep an eye on the fins, though - that could be septicemia sneaking in, but possibly not.

she looks healthy otherwise except for the clamped fins.
Give her a day or so and see how she does.

What is septicemia and what should I be looking for?

She's gorgeous Kara! Perhaps the duller patches are just places where her scales don't have the cellophane (not sure if I'm using the right terminology there) coloring to them? I know that Orion has a ridge behind his head that are duller scales without that iridescent texture to them. Hopefully it is just her coloring and doesn't indicate any illness. She sure is a cutie.

Aww she's a cutie~ Goodluck with her, hopefully it's just her coloring.

aww, you're soo awesome to rescue her, Kara! LG is gorgeous.. look at her poor little clamped fins :-( I'm sure she will be happy as soon as she realizes she'll be loved forever now.

Septicemia is a disease characterized by red streaks on fins and/or body.

Keep an eye on her - she should start opening up her fins within a few days and eat. If she's sluggish and/or hiding and you notice the red streaks rapidly change or get worse, that may indicate septicemia.

Not to scare you, though - the red stuff could very well just be her coloration.

What a CUTEY!!!
I'm betting the red is just her colouration, seeing as the iridescence covers it in the second pic. Iridescence is layered on top of other colours, so if it were infection, you wouldn't expect to see the iridescence over the red :)

Edit: That spot on her side does look a little worrying though. Maybe try some Melafix on it?
