Everybody .... meet Franklin. The new little male Firemouth who is now tankmates with Bull and GT.

THe photos don't actually really do him justice. Personally, I think he is one of the nicest coloured firemouths I've seen for a while.
He's only about 2.5" long, so should improve even more, as he also will as he settles in more.
Bull and GT let him know who was boss (note the slightly torn dorsal), but seem to have accepted him completely now. He's eating and generally settling in really well.
I actually went out, really thinking I would get an EBJD or a Sajica, but just saw this batch of firemouths and knew one of them would be perfect.

Bull and GT are both very well and, as a photoshoot was occuring, made me promise to put up a few pics of them too !

Makes a very pleasant addition to your tank. You may say the picture doesnt do him justice, but you can still tell how vibrant his chest is, and we all know a picture never does them justice so we can all admire how truely stunning he must be in the flesh. He'll make a very interesting addition to your group.

Not an EBJD so i'm crossing you off my nice list :p Haha, jokes ofcourse :good:

Is that Bull your Flowerhorn? Oh---My---Gosh. I want! He is magnificent multiplied by a million. The orange on him is simply awe-inspiring.

Hope they all work out ok

Bull is a red-headed Costa Rican Barred Midas cichlid. Although he is red pretty much all over, apart from his stripes of course, not just his head.

GT is, of course, a Green Terror. I'm guessing that's who you are admiring, with his orange-flashed dorsal and caudal fins. He is absolutely as stunning as the photos suggest. And a real character ! He is my favourite fish at the mo.

This is Buster, my larger FH

Ha, i knew your FH began with a B, thats what threw me off.

So its Bull the stunning orange tailed beaut! He is absolutely phenominal :X I mean, wow! I'm going to seriously look into them, they are, well...i'm speechless :) I've never really looked at a Green Terror, i can't think for the life of me why. The orange is what does it for me, aside from it being my fav colour, its simply stunning.

Almost got it .... Bull is the Midas (stripey one). "GT" is the green terror (the object of your lust).

I'm glad you like him. Another great thing about GT's is that they are dirt cheap !
From what I hear they are extremely variable in temperament though. This is the first I have had, and the impression I am getting is that he is pretty laid back for his species.

While this thread might be about your FM, the GT has stolen the show for me. Thats one impressive fish, love the first picture of him with the vibrant green and orange.

I never see firemouths around here that look that good and only 2.5" wow. Very nice. The gt is pretty what's the one in the last photo? Looks like a type of Amphilophus or Midas type fish.

THanks.
It was bound to happen though. GT is such a poseur !

It's the same around here. Most of the firemouths are washed out and very unimpressive colour-wise.
I was so impressed with the colour on this batch, I had to have one. Apart from his lovely red belly, his sides genuinely are a platinum/silver. And, as you say, even more impressive considering his diminutive size.

As for the last photo, if you're talking about "Bull", he's a costa-rican red-head midas (Amphilophus citrinellum sp.)
