For the past few days, I've been thinking of Medaka rice fish. I'm debating whether I should keep them or not. Should I try to breed and raise the fry or not? Should I keep them in a glass aquarium or should I do the traditional Japanese way and keep them in outdoor bowls/pots? Suggestions and persuasions are welcome! :)

I think if you had a large enough bowl with a heating system that would be cool

They don't need any heating. ;)

But thanks for the suggestion!
Sorry I meant if you live in a cold climate. I should have clarified:)

See it is totally different up here :) we only have 2 weeks of snow compared to other areas that have more but still

I have the related Daisy's rice fish, Oryzias woworae. I'd say go for it. Mine breed all the time, though the eggs and/or fry get eaten in a community tank. There were some eggs on a plant which I transferred to my betta's tank a few years ago. This betta was the one who ignored everything and I was very surprised to find 4 fry swimming quite happily in his tank a few days later. They stayed with him till they were big enough for the main tank.
If you want to raise fry, maybe try using spawning mops and transfer them to another tank/bowl for the eggs to survive.
