My new female rabbit who I won in a raffle with a male is getting a little mean. When you pet her she snarls a little and grunts and stiffens up and freaks out! I have a scoop for my rabbit food and when I will feeding her she attacked that scoop!!! Any ideas on what to do because I would really like to keep her and I just don't know what to do!

Sometimes rabbits are just like that, one of mine hates anyone putting their hands in his cage when he is in there and often attacks the sweeping brush lol. I would make sure you keep stroking him, otherwise he wont let you touch him at all after a while. :)

If she is old enough you could have her spayed, this sometimes helps with agression problems. Otherwise you will need to be patient and just handle her a little everyday until she comes round :good:

Sometimes they are like that. Sometimes it comes with the breed. When they get older though they can loosen up sometimes. However have you spayed her? THis will help with aggression most often.

I think she just does not like me because with someone else in my family she is not that mean ll

lol they have personalities just like people...some are happy and love attention..oters are crabby and just want to be left alone! i've had both. generally i find lop ear rabbits to be very friendly.

Ha ha ha! Well, I work and spend all of my time at my grandmas rabbit farm and this problem happens a lot. You see, my grandma breeds her rabbits for pet and SHOWS. Which is where you got your rabbit. And this is a big problem with female rabbits. One thing I have learned is that rabbits only hate you for one reason or another. They don't ever just hate you. I don't know if you have a male, but if she is not bred it is a good idea to get her spayed. This may sound a little gross but without a male to take herself out on, she becomes aggresive. And since rabbits are so intellectual, they know what gender their owners are. She probably see's you as a threat. You feed her and care for her, so she thinks you would have the oppertunity to take a male away from her if one were to come around. And plus, since she is aggressive, you probably dont interact with her a lot. To get a hold of her, pick her up from the side and be firm so she will feel safe. Only pick her up from the side because it will hurt their backs if picked up any other way. Handle her every day; show her you love her and you are no threat. Also, create toys and hide food for her to find at play time to get her energy out. Just be creative in creating toys. Give her lots of TLC and soon she will be your best friend. At a different farm there was a rabbit female who was mean and at risk of being put to sleep. But I adopted her and did this. Now she is not only my friend but my protector. Ha ha ha! I know, I am a nerd! :teacher:
