Maverick

Just in case you looked at the videos of the macaws you`ll hear the name maverick from them all the time. This is Maverick

he will be 15 years old in 2 weeks time, he has arthritic growth on his spine, a compressed disc and degenrative joint disease, but he is the happiest most loving fella. He is good with ALL animals and people, he just wants to play and eat. he is in no pain, he is on druge to help, and weve nearly lost him a few times over the last year or so, but the old lad bounces back strong as an ox and here he is, sleeping on his bed, one of his beds should I say.

I would just like to mention that Maverick has a rear end harness to help support him when he walks, we put it on him and support his back end for him, although he can walk alone it is hard for him, this has transformed his life. i never even knew these contraptions existed and would like to say that if anyone has a dog struggling to walk, don`t give up, these things are available.

Oh, and don`t worry about his feet, they are just socks woth the toes cut off that he wears to stop his feet getting sore as he scrapes them a bit as he walks sometimes, he`s worn them for years and has a pair in every colour!

It's wonderful to see that you've done all you can to make the rest of his life as comfortable as possible for him.

Mav`s great, a bundle of fun and he comes everywhere with us, if we`re in th car, he is too.
He`s got loads of presents for his birthday, toys, bones, he`ll have a chicken for his dinner, he loves unwrapping pressies so we wrap them all up for him and he rips the paper off.
he brings a tear to my eye all the time too, I just admire his strength and will to live. Also some hairy moments with him, but it`s amazing how he pulls through, and he has loads of mates too!!!
