Got the level out the other day and decided on a whim to test the levelness of my tank. Found out it was twisted!!! The house we live in sort of leans toward the center of the house itself, and towards the center of each room, so my tank was all out of joint. I freaked, and today had to drain out most of the water so I could boost up the dresser the tank is on.

It was a nightmare, I overflowed a bucket on my unsealed hardwood floor and ended up having to use a dirty pair of pants to stop it from heading towards my old National Geographics before I could find some old towels, and then accidently sucked my balloon molly up in the tube  her face is still blood red and her fins are all clamped, but I think she should be okay. So I ended up with about four inches of water in a tank thats two feet deep, my fish are freaking out, I'm freaking out, my mom's freaking out... I had buckets sitting around in my room on soggy towels and then had to pull out all the drawers in my dresser so we could lift it up to get the little pieces of wood under it's feet.

Then after all that it was time to fill the tank back up and I only had the three buckets of old water, so that began my trips back and forth from the bathtub to my room. Found out the one bucket leaks slightly too, so that added to my fun.... Then I find out we're out of hot water, so I have to add some cold water to the tanks and let the other buckets sit till they warm up some so I don't shock the fish. I started at around noon and it's now almost nine and I'm still not done yet! Two more buckets and I should be able to turn the filter back on... Tomorrow should be the day I find out what fish I can special order and for how much, so at least I have something to look forward to....

Whoever said fish are easier than a dog was on crack, I swear...

That doesn't sound like much fun :/

Just wondering here... why is it bad if a tank is not level?

lol, i hear ya. My friends always say this is too much work. And right now i'm using my supposed 110gpd R/O system to fill my new 120g tank up. I did the maths and that ends up being around 4.5gph :S I don't think it's really going that fast either. So at this rate my tank should be filled up by the time my Live Rock gets here on Friday -_-

I've heard that if a tank isn't level it could create more pressure on some parts than there should be and you could develope a leak.

That makes sense... i never really thought of that. Thanks. :) I guess i should make sure my tank is level.

Well, the filter is up and running, and the molly doesn't look like she has lipstick smeared all over her face anymore.... One or two more buckets should do it, and then I can go to sleep...

twisted tanks are verry bad! good think you caught it befor you blew a seam.

my basment floor is so unlevel it is almost imposible to get my tank level.
i have about 1/4 inch diff form oneside to the other but the tank is not twisted.
