These are on sale right now at Petsmart for $40 and was thinking of getting one and "moving up in the world" so to speak in the world of fishkeeping.

Was wanting some opinions on them from anyone who already has one:
Do you like it? Do you keep it at room temperature and if so, is the temp pretty constant throughout? Do you use a heater? Do you have problems with it overheating? Do you like the filter? Etc., etc.

I'm just really trying to find out if this would be a good home for some fish. I'll also take any suggestions on what kind of fish and how many you think would be good in a little five gallon.

Thanks so much! :)

Just wanted to say, I bought my Marineland Hex 5 yesterday :). I had decided I needed to split up my male dwarf gouarmis, and of course couldn't bring myself to return one, so this was my solution. I did a lot of research before picking a tank, and I think this is a pretty darned good one (from what I've read in the past and observed already). I love it so far! I have a heater in it since my house gets rather chilly at night. The filter seems fine, I'm a big fan of bio-wheels, so I was excited to find a tank set which included one. It's nice and quiet. Anyways, I haven't decided what I'm putting into mine yet either. Somebody to keep my dwarf gouarmi company, maybe some sort of tetras. Who knows. :p Isn't it fun to pick out new fish for a new tank?

Thanks for the reply. I'm still not sure if I'm going to get it yet...still want to do some more comparison shopping around. Either way I'm gonna do plastic or silk plants. I'm not ready to deal with the real thing yet.

I figure I'll just keep working my way up with the larger tanks. But I'm starting off small.

Have you decided what kind of fish yet?? Let me know when you do. :D
