Marine Tank Of The Month/quarter Or Featured Tank

Well it appears the idea of some kind of feature is widely supported, now just to iron out details?

I love the TOTM idea! And I think a board of selected members would be nice. Is it possible for myself to be on that board (of members)?

No, I would have no problem with a board of members even if I'm not on it.

Fair enough. I think we could try it. Some thoughts here:

-we could open up a thread for nominations, then, a vote could be opened up
-the owner of the tank with most votes would then be offered a feature article
-the article could include other facets, up to the owner, if they want to supply other bits of info about themselves

It would be nice if the article could be done as a graphic. Do we need a writer? a designer? What would the outline be for questions asked? EG

SH, glad to see you willing to give this a go. Since so many people never even look in at this part of the forum, I don't see why problems with their behaviour should affect us

Not sure if any article needs to be as a graphic, but it would be good to have a selection of pictures that interject with the text as you go through (so while describing the sump etc there could be a picture of the sump and the gubbins down there). I would guess most of it could be done through PM with an anointed supervisor of these things (either a mod or someone who SH trusts) to get it looking and reading well.

If doing a single tank the order could be along the lines of:

• Previous tanks/experiences including reasons for this tank;
• Ethos of tank (SW pred, softy reef, SPS farm);
• Procurement (all at once, over time);
• Actual equipment
• Maintenance Regime
• Livestock
• Any interesting/traumatic/funny stories regarding the tank.

If doing a multi tank one then one could repeat the above, but consider brevity.

Andy's got some great points there, if I may add some structure?

Introduction
Here the aquarist could indicate a little bit about themselves, where they came from (previos experience), and perhaps some tidbits on what attracted them to the marine side of the hobby

Ethos
As andy says, concept of what was tried to achieve. Preds, reef, etc.

The Tank
Actual equipment, including details on construction/procurement where appropriate. Including a little tour of the bits and bobs that make it all tick. Perhaps if one system is exceptionally involved or unique a subsection here.

Maintenance
Daily, monthly, weekly tasks performed. maybe a little info on how chemistry is maintained (if applicable)

Inhabitants
What critters call your little slice of ocean home. This section can have a nice list and be very picture-laiden

Tales and Thanks
Funny stories, near disasters, and thanks for whomever may have been instrumental in heling with tank design/setup/etc
