Ha ha, tell me about it, i once went out to get a fruit bowl that missus wanted  , ended up £1k+ out of pocket cause i got a dining table instead  .
Anyway....
RO water is just filtered tap water, you buy the kit and fit it to a tap, you need to have somewhere for the waste water to go, pref a drain, and a food safe container for the RO water. They usually consist of a 3 stage filtration, and they claim to take out 95-98% of contaminants, so you get say 1 bucket of RO water and 3 or 4 waste buckets!!, these can be used for ponds apparently, or to feed plants ect. Aslong as theyre used often they last a long time!, its when you dont use them that buggers them, and you have to replace the filters.
hope this helps.

right is see ! ok shock em and tell me they cost about £500 pound ?

Depending on your preference, you can probably buy RO and even pre-mixed RO salt water straight from your lfs. I know that for my little 10g tank, it just didn't make financial sense to buy a whole RO unit for 2-3 gallons a week!

I agree, but make sure that you are buying from a trustworthy fish shop. When I used to buy RO water for my tank, after every water change I got a mini algae bloom- now I have my own unit this doesn't happen; so I presume it was down to the shop not changing their filters as often as they should.

ok thanks very much, i'll look into it....... so how much these things cost then ? and are they hard to set up like space and that ? or can you set them up and run them when you need them ??
