when keeping marine one only has to know that if you do have a reef tank you cant help your self spending money. money that sometimes you havent even got. yesterday i bought a cluster of big hairy mushrooms with blue tips for 35 pound as my LED strip arrived which was 18 pound. i decided i want more flow in there. Koralia nano bang 21 pound. LED replacements for the halogens £10.05. went the lfs today to get my girlfriends dad some tropical fish ended up getting a kenya tree coral frag. 10 pounds. the list is endless. its like you cant help yourself is anyone else this way or is it a condition i have because im considering going the doctors if it carries on haha.
anyyyyyywayyyyyy.
the reason for this post is that of what i mentioned before. the blue hairy mushrooms. i got these yesterday as they looked fantastic in the shop. i have placed them in the brightest place in the tank and for some reason they havnt came out as nice as they was in the shop. they resembled an anamone of some sort as the little hairy tenticles where so long. there are three of them and to be honest they dont look the best. everything else is fine like the carpet leather and polyps. anyone got any solutions. they have been in there for just over 24 hours.
thanks

sorry mate can't help you with the coral, but your not alone i have the same affliction, and it does not help that my misses is worse - now getting a larger tank, spending money on these tanks is a joy!

its the opposite for me, my missus just isnt interested in fishkeeping but she is interested in budgeting me so its going to be a long and slow process for me once i get it going

Yes absolutely! I can't stop either £100's and £100's - I dread to think!! Sorry can't help you. Only what you would do with any coral, if it doesn't open properly after a few days, move it somewhere else and see if it likes it.

I had a toadstall that refused to open, it fell off the rock - landed in the floor and laziness kicked in and I thought 'Ahh screw it' and the next day open wide and beautiful!! It's unbelievable.

I have one of those

In relation to the reef tanks I agree. When I set mine up in March 10 it co-incided with a an inheritance, a car crash and cash up front and a backkhander from a client. I had loads of cash that my mrs wasn;t totally aware of and I spent a load on my little reef tank. I have to say now being broke I regret that slightly!!!
