Hi, new here. I'm in the process of cycling my tank, unfortunately I started before finding this place and already have a couple of "hardy" fish in the tank.

The process is well under way, about 4 weeks now. Ammonia is down to 0, Nitrite is at 0.25-0.5 ppm, I'm doing water changes every other day now... which leads me to my maiden topic...

I found this neat Marina Aqua-Vac water changer system - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00101BYOO/ref=as...ASIN=B00101BYOO

I think this would make life easier when doing water changes and for cleaning the gravel. My concern now is two fold.

Has any one used this, does it work? and
Does adding the water straight from the tap to the tank and then adding the aquarium salt and water conditioner (dechlorinator, etc) to the tank be harmful to the habitants?

Adding return water directly to the tank is something most of us do! Put half your conditioner in first and half afterwards. Salt is not good and not needed for trops usually! Gravel-cleaning-water-changes are very important, so good you are doing!
