I have the flat glass marbles that you can add to a tank well today my mother bought me some other ones with diffrent shapes. I also picked up round ones. Can I add the round ones? I will put them in hot water before I put them in the tank. I want some opinoins though! Thanks!

I use marbles (flat and round) in 15 of my 19 tanks, I have never had a problem with them
except for the occasional chipped marble. As long as they're rinsed well, you should be fine.

I use them as accents to show off the color of the Betta. When I had my 1st Betta in a big glass bowl I found them so much easier to rinse off when I was doing a cleaning. I got a plastic strainer/colander kind of thing they couldn't slip through so I could put them under the water and swish them around alot to get all of the nasty junk out. (Then I just dedicated it to just using for that bowl) I found a bunch of them at the nothing over a $1 dollar store in the plastic plant dept. The price difference between there and the pet store was unreal--like $5. The worst difference was the dust factor at the dollar store but heck, they rinse off easy enough! I got a bunch for the filtered planted tank I just set up too to add to the top of the substrate. Frankly, I think they're better for longer finned Bettas as they are sooo smoooth to glide over versus a bunch of rocks! My boss at my last job had a bowl with this marble grouping of colors that were in her multi-colored guy including pink!! That's what got me onto using the colors to accentuate the fish's colors. Good luck!

I put those in as well they are really pretty, I try to use the same colour as the betta. My old betta got cross with them though as I think he can see his reflection in them. He is back in a small bowl with a heater. He lost all the ends of his fins a couple of weeks ago but they are now growing back. He is so big and so beautiful, he does know it though! Very conceited! Not very brave in a big tank though he likes his own little kingdom!

Many years ago and probably still today marbles were used for breeding tanks. The fry would go down between the marbles and thus survive not being eaten! Also there is the fact that are easy to keep clean. :p
