Managed to take some good close-ups of my mantis whilst keeping him entertained at the front of the glass. The 2nd video shows his eyes in really good detail.

Ummm, aren't the solid green ones usually Pseudosquilla Cilliata?

Yes its a Pseudosquilla Ciliata (only one L)

I have another which is jet black with 2 broad white bands that is an undescribed species but he is rather more reclusive. Will try and get a video at some point.

Very cool dude. I saw a few more on there like one against a swimming crab as food and others eating hermits, OMG scares me lol

It annoys me that people chuck crabs and shrimps into their mantis tank purely to watch the mantis destroy them. My mantis is quite happy attacking a piece of Tesco Value frozen prawn or frozen whole shrimp. Ok so the defense is that its natural.

Predation is natural in millions of examples from the animal kingdom, but do we re-create them just for fun in captivity? I sure havent seen any Lions chasing Zebra or gazelle for show at any zoos in this country....
