Male or female algae eater?

Is there anyway to tell the difference between male and female Chinese algae eater?, Here is mine

Smaller is generally the male with most species but if it's just younger then maybe the fin or tail is a different shape

An adult male will develop tubercules or "horns" on the nose. Females will have a thicker and rounder body, whereas males have a smaller thinner body. Hope this helps.
