Hiya I have a tank with 2 male kribs, 5 neon tetras, 1 male guppy, 1 mickey mouse platty and 3 baby guppies who are in a breeding net till Im sure they wont be eaten.
Anyway for past couple days one of my male kribs has been hiding in a plastic plant I have which is kinda like shortish thick grass.
Ive never had any problems at all with my kribs apart from them eating my babies lol.
Does anyone have any ideas why hes hiding? Hes not even coming out for food. No other fish are going near him.

Tha water perameters are all fine.

Thanks
Pooh

Can you actually see the fish to observe his physical appearance? Be careful, my friend just lost one that did exactly the same thing as yours, only he hid in the cave for 2 days. No clue what was wrong, just thought you should be aware.

yep I can see him through the plastic plant.
He looks fine his colors are still there but hes not eating he keeps moving about in this plant
Im starting to get worried about him but I dont know what to do

i dont want to appear to be rude, but are you sure you have two males? the one hiding sounds like a female guarding eggs???? just a suggestion. :)

Poohbear, I didn't notice that you had 2 male Kribs. How big is the tank? That's generally not a good idea unless they are in a 40g or larger....MIGHT work in a 30 long or something.....

These guys ARE Cichlids, and males need territory. The one hiding I'm going to assume is being terrorized by the other? I'm sure I could be wrong there, but that would be my first concern. Have you seen any evidence? Or do they simply get along?

The tank is pretty big and not over stocked.
Hes started eating now but is still hiding all the time.
Ive had them for over a year and havent noticed any signs of the other one bullying him.
Im certain they are both males.

Sounds like they're reaching maturity and one is exhibiting dominance over the other.

What are the tank dimensions?
Are there a lot of cover such as plants or caves available for the krib?
