Hi!
I have a 60litre tank with 2 honey gourami's in it, a yellow one and an orangey coloured one, I've had them for about 4 weeks and they've been fine with each other. I'm about 90% sure that the orange one is female and the red one is male, everything was fine with them until yesterday when I was feeding them and the yellow one started chasing the other gourami away from all the food, not only this but when he does it his bottom fin turns black as if hes flaring, the first time I saw it I thought he was diseased until it was gone 5 minutes later! Is this something to be worried about? He seems to be fine about an hour or so after feeding.

I also bought 4 crystal red shrimp yesterday (low grade) and they've sat in the cave all day and only one of them has fed! I've been feeding them hikari sinking wafers, is this something to be worried about? I have pretty heavily planted tank and the tank readings are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite <5ppm nitrate, and the only other tank mates are 2 ADF's that I hand feed bloodworm and 3 Kuhli loaches that seem to be doing great. Is there anything you think I should do?

Thanks.

Anyone? :( The yellow honey seems to change his black bottom fin at will and is doing it fairly often now but doesn't chase the female unless its feeding time.

I've had honeys and my male did this all the time, Im fairly sure its a displaying thing to try to court the female. If he's harassing her a lot you could consider getting another female to take some of the stress. Has the male made or been trying to make a bubble nest?

Yea I'll definately consider another female if it gets worse, he hasn't tried to put up a bubblenest yet afaik, though to be honest I'm not sure where he'd put on as the top of my tank is fairly fast! It's a relief that he isnt on his way out anyway!
Thanks for replying :)
