ive had a male betta in me tank for a week now and hes done nothing but hide, iwas in the lfs today buying bitd for tank and he suggested i get hima feemale it may bring him out

female is in tank hes still iding

its a 3ft tank, has a couple male dwarf gurami, neons, coloured widows, catfish, and a huge 10" pleco, and a couple orange coloured fish lol

I may be wrong, but I don't think keeping a male & female betta together is a good idea.

No a male and female together is not a good idea. I would guess that your male is hiding from the gouramis. Anabantoids do not do well together. I would get two 1 gallons and put the bettas in those. They will be much happier that way :)

I'm sorry to say this, but I think your LFS is full of it... I think you should separate the male and female ASAP unless you want some dead fish... in very rare instances it is possible to keep males and females together, but like I said... really rare... -_-

i agree with ewveryone else. NO MALES AND FEMALES TOGETHER! the male will pester the female constantly. i agree with sorrell-you should get them each their own tank.

i thought would of been if two males would of ended in fights

well he hasnt even payed her the slightest bit of attention, im wondering if its too much current in the tank so have just ordered a spray bar kit for the fluval filter

i have no other spare tanks, one in the kithchen but thats full of guppies nd neons and the betta will eat the fry

Just grab two large jars for them. You don't want either of them in there with gouramis  They will be fine in one gallons bowls also, they cost like $5 each
