Making Your Own Dividers

The needlepoint plastic you can get at any walmart or crafting store the report binders I got at office depot, but you might could find them at walmart as well. And to seal them I just used aquarium sealant. the way I do it is I mark on the outside of the tank where I want to put the dividers and then on the inside I use tape to line off a half inch section with the mark on the outside of the tank being in the middle. This way when you apply the sealer and it dries you pull the tape off and you have a nice clean straight edge. Just make sure that you have the binders lined up from one side to the other, if they are not straight across from one another the plastic can pop out of them from the angle that it is pulled at.

The big problem is my tank is full of water cycling .Does the aquarium seal work under water and the tapes would they work under water?

thank you

You are going to have to start over with the cycle, you might be able so salvage some of the water but anything that is on the glass will have to be dried out in order to put the tape and sealer in. If you have rocks in the tank then just make sure you dont let them dry out and your cycle should for the most part be saved, if you dont then you will have to basically start over. Saving the water might speed it up some.

I have some plastic canvas it is 10.5" x 13.5" and the holes are 2mm x 2mm, so it really depends on how small the fry are I'm still waiting for my platty to have hers so I don't know how small they are. If the sheets are too small you could just overlap two and sew them together.
If this is just temperary (sp) for the fry do you really want to go pasting sealant all over your tank.
Could you just try making a frame from some plastic tubing to attach the canvas too?
Look at the post by Tolak and follow the link. Do a similar thing but instead of the eggcrate use the plastic canvas.

Heres an update: since my last post my palty has had her babies!!
They are tiny will probably fit through the canvas have to re-think that idea.

I use a thick plastic cardboard type of thing.. Most people use it for school projects..

Easy to cut, and you can wedge it down into the tank.. I don't seal it though.. just wedge it down and leave it.

I dont cut holes in it for filtration, I just run a filter on each side.. but you could cut holes in it really easily if you needed to.
