Making Diy Slate Caves

Is there a special type of slate thats used to make diy caves?
I'd like to have a try at it. Are roof tiles ok for them or not. They would be the easiest to use.

Slate is slate ! But are your roof tiles ? they are made of all sorts these days...

Don't have any roof tiles yet m8, just thought they would be easier to cut.
