So i have this sideboard and i want to stand a 120ltr tank on it
it's quite sturdy and hubby has stood on it to decorate the ceiling and it didnt collapse , but saying that it's only MDF with plywood partitions inside , so how could i make it stronger
we thought about adding some poles (the metal poles for holding up worktops) at the back under the lid of the sideboard and in the gaps between the draws
Being blonde and female (try anything to get help lmao) do i also need to shore up the top of the sideboard
It's 3/4 inch thick

this is the sideboard -- got if for £7 from ebay 12 months ago to stand a small tank on and store kids toys and dump junk lol

ANYone any ideas

I may be doing the same thing for my tank stand and its a 130L tank

I was going to put another top on it (just a thicker sturdier wood) then get some metal poles like you suggest and stick them straight through the back bit.

Putting some cross wood beams corner to corner wood make it stronger as well (a wood beam cross at each side of the sideboard)

does it have any up rights in the cupboards?

i bought a tv stand from agros before Christmas. has 2 cupboards either side with 3 slots for ps3/sky/surround sound. the side, top and bottom use 30mm wood.

i have my 180litre tank on it and its fine.

if you get a picture with the doors open it will be easier to tell unless you have the side cupboard.

To be honest that unit should be more than strong enough but if you are worried take the middle drawer out put an adjustable metal breakfast bar pole or a length of 2inch x 2inch wood in the middle upright an tight but only fit these with nothing on top of the unit and then use your draw front as a false one (if that makes any sense lol)
hope this helps
