I'm going to have a go at making one of these, I was wondering about where to get the acrylic from and then I thought... why does it have to be see through?

Other than seeing your rowa-phos turn the water brown I couldn't think of any reason to not use a bit of PVC pipe.

am I missing something?

Whats a quid? Is that currency? You can get the tools online. Just google DIY Reactors + salwater or something. Some DIY projects show links to where you can get the itesms at online.

hehe a quid is a £

I was meaning if you buy a reactor they are about £50-100 depending on what you get and where you go, but my question was if they needed to be see-through and I can't think of any reason why they need to be.

:)

Search me y they are clear

You can use acrilic and make a square reactor for like £15

But pumps and a co2 systm will run you £100

link

Read it is vary good info.

He's making a phosphate reactor for rowaphos, no CO2 needed :)

MrSeptember, quid is to £ as buck is to $ :hey:

And there is no reason something like a rowaphos reactor/cylinder can't be made out of PVC

This there clear because some of the media used in them changes colour when is extinguished.

Could by one of thoes bubble tubes you see in the Gadget shop for about £14 and cut it up??

ah okey didn't know that - assuming I'm testing for phosphate tho, that shouldn't be an issue, I've got some inch and a half (I think) PVC pipe and some elbows I can fill with foam, so I'll try it that way before I buy anything else.

I suppose that I just need to see how much water will keep the rowa-phos in suspension (how I'm going to do that I don't know unless it says in the leaflet somewhere...)

then I can retire my 28w 2215, make another one for carbon and run them both of a maxijet :)

hurrah! (I hope)

:D

Rowaphos is a sediment filter and does not need to be in suspension for it to work ;). You just pass water over/near it and it does its thing. No need for a fancy reactor :good:

Lol, believe this was answered in another thread but I'll do it again.

Buck is to Dollar as Quid is to Brittish Pound :hey:

heh that was actually the first question that this thread addressed... :)

looks like I'm good to go with the PVC then - I'm going to have about 600lph going through both the tubes (rowa-phos first then the carbon) and sponge inbetween and at each end.

think that will be enough flow?

I'll post some pics after the weekend.

600LPH is more than enough. You can get away with somethin like 200-300LPH

I can't wait 2 see this.. if u can.. take step by step pictures.. i may want 2 copy u :p
Ter

sure, I'll try and get a camera - I guess I could take some pics of how the sump is coming along too 'cause that confused me for ages when I first started thinking about it, so it might be help for someone :)

is that 200-300 each or between them?

I'm thinking about running them like this:

any thoughts on doing it this way instead of just chaining them?
