Hi guys and gals.
I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences with mail order fish suppliers?

The reason I ask is that Im currently finding it very hard to get hold of enough Ps Salousi to fill my tank.

Any advise would be gratefully received.

I will be interested to know this as well as once I've rehomed a couple of fish I'll also be looking and I haven't seen any near here for sale. I believe Dru went up North somewhere for his.

I did indeed :D but picked them up personnally..

I have i the past had fish arrive through the post as well, not recommended the way he did it but got them and they all survived - paid a private seller £15 and received a cardboard box with a sticker on saying £8.12 by royal mail, that contained a solitary bag with about 500 ml of water in, 12 fis hand no heat pack..

proper selling companys are very good, i've heard promising things from penningtons, natural world and fishbiz. most offer a live guarantee (i think natural world is also a 7 day guarantee i beleive)
all will pack in polyboxes, individually wrapped fish, heat pack and most use pure oxygen to fill the bags with.

Also, the good companies will also not feed the sold fish for a few days prior to despatch so that they do not urinate much in the batchs and cuase a ammonia spike.

Thanks for the info Dru.

I've also heard Trimar are supposed to be good. You going up to pick up any more Saulosi or other fish Dru? :) Oh and Porton had some very large cichlids in the other day. They were only £5 each. Obviously from someones tank not juvies.

Trimar are good - but the three times i've rung (monty isn't it?) he said that they don't do malawis - everything else but malawis

Um, my tank is close to bursting point - i need to sort it out and get rid of about 15 fish i think AND then sell some kingsizei likomas a trio of rusties and the spare saulosi, but i think i will still try and then get a nother WC pair ordered in and some female mpangas and galleriya reef zebras..

but i got to look first :D

I've had fish shipped to me by two seperate suppliers and they both did an excellent job. Properly packed, cushioned and heated in an insulated box.

The vast majority of my wild caught fish are from Natural World. Great selection of fish and great customer service. I'm sure a new shipment will be arriving in the next couple of weeks. I'm waiting myself :)
