my tetra (i dont know which one) suddenly went mad, really aggresively attacking other fish.
I have now put it in a breeding tank where it has calmed down but suddenly after 5mins it has another mad session. Is this a disease? and how can i treat it?
is it contagious?

anybody>? 60 people have looked at this post

I had a black tetra do this. It was a female and it actually bit the stomach of my molly and it died. I took him out, treated him with parasite medicine, and quarantined him. He got better and is really mellow. Had him for 6 months now.

The reason so many people viewed but didn't answer is because this is a very strange question.

I've never noticed such behavior.

Suggestions:
Try what was stated above
Add more fish of the same species to curb aggression
They might be courting the other fish (if the aggression is directed towards fish of the same species)

It would also help if you could id the tetra for us. Even if you don't know what it is, if you could give a description, and some more info on what else is in the tank, what size tank is it, have you added any new fish lately? The more info you give us, the more we can help you.

yeh, i forgot about giving the tank size.
before i list the tank is slightly overcrowded, but the 4 gouramis and cory are going into another tank of the same size.
