Hey next year im thinking of getting a mac (hate windows)

Atm i have a crappy netbook and tbh i dont think its going to last another year. so i like the portability of the macbook but the imac seems so much better for the money and if i buy the ipad (proberly be a ipad 3 by the time i do) i should be fine. I really want to get into video editing and some photography so i need some thing powerful. I did look at Dell xps 17 and others like it but tbh i hate windows. I wont be doing much gaming but i might do a little bit.
I have a ps3 for that :p

If your going to get an iMac make sure you get the new one its just out.

But if you want a Bargain iMac then I recommend Apples refurb section, My Mac Pro came from Apples refurb section

slightly old models fully Apple serviced 1 year warranty etc etc but upto 20% cheaper.

iMovie that comes with Macs is generally very good for editing although I'm still using the old version because I prefer it.

Gaming on the iMac will surprise you it will do it!

Just make sure you back up all your photos etc etc and email contacts so you can import them into the iMac.

I recently upgraded a friends iMac HD so little upgrades can be done but otherwise its the same as a laptop ram/Hd only.

Photo work try Aperture by Apple and Video try iMove to start with and them look to FCP

Thanks every one. :D Im thinking of trying linux. But im still getting a mac  sorry i forgot to say the 2011 ones  but the 2012 will probably be out by the time i have the money.

Well, the reason you are getting a better deal with the iMac is because they are fitting all of the hardware into a tiny shell, and they have a VERY expensive battery. So, with an iMac, they have a little more room, and no battery. Thus, a better deal on the hardware. I'd get a macbook pro, but if you are okay with it being stationary, then get the iMac. Also, the new iMac's have a removable graphics card, so if you do too much gaming and it gives for some reason, you can just replace the card instead of the whole logic board (logic boards are 1000 bucks).

Er the 2011 ones just got updated with the new intel CPUs. 2012 they will have another update by then I expect.

OSX is actually a varation on Linux for the most part the under pinnings of the OS are built up from Linux systems. which is why is fairly secure but not perfect.

I run Macs at home i'd never go back to Windows, just dont need the hassles :)
