Anyone have any suggestions for a safe way to lower pH?

What is your current ph reading and what are you trying to lower it to?

My water's fairly neutral.

I'm trying to lower the pH as a way of stimulating breeding in Polypterus.

I think I can achieve the desired reduction by adding deionised/demineralised water.
Thanks anyway.

that will lower it but your going to need to add the minerals back in with chemicals.

depending on tank size and hardness i suggest adding peat is the best way, when using deionised/demineralised water you change the whole chemistry of the water.

What species of Polypterus? And do you have a seperate tank for any eggs?-Anne

Senegalus.
Any eggs will be transferred to dishes to develop for a little while until I use in them in my research....no babies for me.
