Hello,

I want to create a low tech amazon jungle theme in a 4ft 265 litre tank.

As it's low tech obviously there will be low light and no Co2. I will be using play sand and would like to litter the floor with dried almond leaves and would love some kind of fast growin moss carpet if possible?

Either way, I want it very crowded and once it's in, I'd like minimal maintenance.

I'm open to dosing with liquid ferts if I must but I'd like it to be pretty much plant, grow, prune.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Well tbh there's no mosses that grow fast, for the low maintenance side you wanna go as low light as possible, lower light normally equals lower maintenance. :)

The last owner of my current tank said he replaced the bulbs recently for the bright ones currently in to promote growth.

I hate Fluval hoods so I plan on taking it out and building my own over-hanging 'hood' with three LED lamps (most likely designed for a desk)...will that be low tech enough?

Also, if the mosses don't grow fast - Will they at least thrive and grow healthily in a low light tank without co2?

Yeah of course but they will need flow with the mosses and will grow very slow as if you think in terms of having low light, by the time it reaches the bottom it will be even lower.
