Low-Ph Cichlid Suggestion?

I have a 150 gallon tank which I am currently stocking but I have run into some problems figuring out the "centerpiece". The tank is mostly SA and asian fish and the pH is just how they would like it, quite low (about 6). I'd like to get a pair of SA cichlids that might breed that would fit the tank well, something that would max out at 6 to 8 inches. I got a pair of gynogeophagus gymnogenys only to find out that they prefer cooler temps, and my tank is 80 degrees and full of fish that like it warm. Any recomendations for a medium-sized breedable cichlid tha likes warm water and low pH? dont say Discus; my mom HATES Discus so that's not happening xP

Arent jack dempseys agressive? I had a green severum in there to help cycle the tank but when I tried adding a geophagus it did NOT like the severum. R.I.P. Mr. Severum (and back to the store with the offending geophagus) Severums might be good but if the dempseys are agressive it wont work well; the tank is full of medium-sized tetras, a few smallish loaches(which will grow quite a bit), some pictus catfish of various sizes and some small barbs. Any other ideas?

Angelfish are another obvoius choice, personally I like the wild type. Look up Altum angelfish altum. With most of these largeish s/a cichlids its better to add a group when young and let then pair up. There are plenty of lovely geophagus species that could work also look up the Satanoperca group. Red neck severum, well severums generally are a great centerpiece fish. laetacara are a wonderful little type of cichlid. One final suggestion is the festivum cichlid festivum

Don't waste your time looking into altums. 1. The odds they will even last a week or two in your tank are almost 0. 2.If they did make it, the odds they would spawn in your tank are less than 0.

Look into wild scalare or leopoldi if you want to try wild. However, domestic angels of all sorts would work. To see wild angels take a look here Finarama

Bear in mind even the normally most mild mannered cichlid will turn into an evil killing machine when in spawning mode.

I would try angels....but my mom hates those too xP I will probably end up settling on a pair of geophagus or severums, depends on what my LFS gets in. Unless anyone has any other ideas? I'm open to all suggestions! And one of these days when I finish high school and move out I will make sure to set up 2 tanks just for discus and angelfish xD

haha that hard to find? they look good but id have to ask my lfs. anyone have any recommendations for a decent sized (6-8 inch), collorful geophagus I could breed in a tank like that? I'm deffinately leaning towards a geo...

Most fish from the amazon come from low ph. I would not worry about it.
