My previous beautiful blue male fighter died after having him for close to 5 years and so I finally got myself a new boy. He's another gorgous blue (I can't resist the dark blues) and quite young and full of curiousity. He knows when ever I am near the tank and never fails to emerge from any of his hidey holes to check out what I might be doing. If I put my hand in the tank to do anything he has to inspect it and scrutinise everything. Today as a treat I gave him some mosquito wrigglers and he had no qualms about getting into the net with the wrigglers and was almost disappointed when I choved him out so I could remove the net. At first he wasn't too sure about the wrigglers but his curiousity got the better of him and he tried one. After that I am not sure who had more fun

him chasing down the wrigglers and inspecting anything floating in the tank in case it was another one or me watching him. He really is a personable little guy and I am looking forwards to him staying around for as long as his predessor.
And just to clarify I got the wrigglers from some water in my own yard so no fear of introducing any nasties from any creeks and I don't use pesticides etc in my yard as I love my green tree frogs way too much to risk harming them.
When I get a chance I'll try to get some good pics of the new guy, I think it should be fairly easy as he is such a sticky beak for what is happening outide of the tank.

awww he sounds really sweet. I'd love to see a pic. I've got a girl coming and I love it if she was like your new boy

Ok, because you all asked so nicely here's some pics of the new boy. He isn't as dark as my other boy but still lovely.

Coming over to see what I am doing.

Had to put some food in otherwise he kept just trying to figure out what was so interesting.

In all his glory

I know it's technically a bad photo, but it really shows his colour.

"Ok bored with you now, I'll go back to what I was doing".

Hope you like the pics and you find him as lovely as you expected.

Thanks everyone, I think he's a great little guy, my husband says I am way to fussy when selecting a fighter but I say better to be fussy and get what you want than always be on the look out for the one you really like. I saw a lovely female (green/ blue with some red) in a one of my local pet shops and was really tempted to get her and put her in one of my other tanks for future later breeding, but alas a female might have to wait a bit longer.

My boy is well and truly settled in now, he comes over to the front of the tank at the first hint that I am in the shed. He seems to be of the opinion that everytime I'm about that he is going to get some type of treat. . I think he has been snacking on some of my cherry shrimp babies as I can only find the odd one and the adults are almost impossible to locate, just as well I have another tank set up with only cherry shrimp so I wont lose the lot to one greedy frighter.
