having a bit of a party next week at home with a lot of guests, I had a strange thought, does loud music effect fish ? because I have a surround sound system in the same room as my tank, and yes I do play music very very loud at times. and im wondering if it makes the water vibrate so to speak and how it would effect the fish ?

The more bass the worse it would be. If you can visibly see the surface rippling because of it, i'd try to tone it down a bit. But if not, they should be fine just for one night :good:
Wrapping an old duvet or something similar around the tank would significantly redcue the vibrations reaching the tank :good:

HAMBONE
You know what he meant so theres no need to be a grammer nazi

Back in the "Good old days", when I lived myself. I had my sub sitting inside one of the shelves of my tank stand with both my floor standing speakers at each side of the tank and listened to VERY loud music, EVERY day, and the fish didnt seen to mind.
My old band even jammed a couple of times in the living room, drums, 2x Marshall stacks, PA and Peavy Bass unit = HEAVY METAL :hyper: and they survived to tell the tale.

I wouldnt dream of doing HALF that stuff now mind you haha but your fish will be fine.

Wouldn't that be * most * def ???? Lol

This was next to my fish tank for years, no problems at all. If an airstone can bubble away like mad with a constant annoying noise, pretty sure music would be okay lol.

Proxo that's awesome!!!

Dj-ing isn't my thing, but I do like a we shot of my friends "1's n 2's" when I get a chance :D

Can't beat a good bit of hardcore!

Lol thanks, shame it doesn't look like that anymore. Most of it is stored away and the desk is soon to be demolished
Plan on turning that into a PC desk and try to fit atleast the CDJs into it, then can get myself another tank for the other wall B-)

Just not quite the same as good old vinyl though is it. With the cd you can beat match at the touch of a button where the vinyl you have to physically touch and time. Its a dying art
