Went away for the weekend, & did'nt ask anyone to feed the fish, cause it's only a weekend. When I came back, all my adult guppies were floating at the top..... (outside heated pond)... White powdery substance in the water.

I deduced that someone had been in my yard and decided to feed the fish. I had tick powder in a big fish food container on the verandah and (from the smell, this is obviously what was chucked in the water.

I dug a hole in the back yard- 3 spades deep, and filled it with guppy bodies.... I can only guess that there were over 8 000 guppies in there. I immediately drained the water and cleaned the pond and am now sitting with around 200 babies only.

Seems that the fry are hardier than the adults..... Off course no one owns up to the deed and fortunately they stopped at the guppy pond and did not do 3 others out there as well. (Blue gouramis, Convicts and mollie ponds)

That really stinks! Who could mistake white powder for fish food?!?! Is there fish food that looks like white powder?
Happy that your babies survived!

Have this bunch of kids that stays in the complex and often come around to "watch the fishies" (between 8 and 12 year olds) I can think what I like, but not allowed to say it. (and you're right.... That litterally stinks....unbearingly)
