Losing Interest

ok you know you're not gonna give up on fish as you wouldn't have bothered to ask us to turn you around...

as to the green water post a pic to give us an idea what the problem is and we'll go from there.

and in answer to your question the plant is Riccia. but dont bother with it untill everything else is sorted.

PM me if you need to go into detail and i'll try my best to help. (include an equipment list, light, co2, plants, fish etc... oh and parameters of course. i'm running out of things to do to my tank so lets get yours sorted (i need a new project).

Hey everyone lately i have been finding fish keeping more of a hassel than being a fun hobby.
My tank is always green.. ive tried every method.. and i dont have really any money to buy new plants or fish..

hopefully im not wasting your time.. just telling ya whats on my mind
When I had a green algea problem, I posted on this forum because I was like you, couldn't figure it out for the life of me. All my tests came out fine exept for water hardness was at 200. I purchased a "water hardness pillow" ($5.99 CAD). It lowered the hardness and now my water is crystal clear.

If this helps you solve the problem, then asking a question is NEVER wasting anyone's time.

Hope you do not give up on your fish hobby as after a while you might regret it. Starting all over at a later time can get very expensive, so right now you are doing pretty good only having to pay for up-keep. IMO

Unfortunately, the green algae (I assume it's probably the dreaded blue green algae) seems to be the hardest to get rid of. I don't over feed and my water parameters are all fine but I can't get rid of it. I sometimes get the feeling that I am wasting my time too but I watch the fish swimming and playing for a littel while and then remember why I enjoy it so much. As someone said earlier, if you do decide you want to get away from it, please find a home for your fish and don't just give up on them and let them die. You'll regret that later. Good luck with your decision.

thanks jimboo.. yea i will try to get things sorted then i will pm ya..
Im not gonna get rid of my fish... but i need to do something drastic to get into it.. I think that school gets in the way of fishkeeping, becuase i started my tank last april and during the summer i would go to the fish store everyday.. i think that once summer rolls around i will enjoy it alot more.. and now that i have a job. Last summer i didnt have a job only cutting grass for 40 dollars a week and i got a descent size tank.. but no top..
so i defiantely need to get one.. i have been without a top since nov!!
the dimensions are L 30 x H 19 x W 12 inches.. but now that i have a descent job it only pays 7.75 an hour but its all good for being my 3rd job. Also i just bought a 2000 pontiac sunfire and i need to pay that off..

No i dont live in buffalo minnesota.. i live about 20 min north of St.Paul/Minneapolis
;)

i no u sed uve tried every thing but this might work ok first if u have any bog wood take it out! then put new water in . put the bog wood in a big bucket full of water and soak it if the water changes colour within like 2 weeks it meen its leaching and thats wats turnin your water green ( i no cuase it happend to me) if u have no bogm wood just cover the intire tank in a black garbage bag this kills all of the algae in a week good luck dont give up!

Once I got it she fell in love with it, now we go looking for fish together and she has learned all sorts of things about diseases, what fish can be kept with what and it feels great.

We often just sit on the arm of the sofa on a nightime with a glass of good red wine, starring into the tank and talking about our day at work just watching and feeding the fish.
Aww thats beautiful. love couldnt have been written better :*)
