Ha, just added up the total cost of Visa's n such for me:
ESTA - $14
B2 Tourist Visa - $140
Visa Extension (no guarantee it'll be granted) - $290

Flights are £542 one way  , technically it'll be half that cause my OH's are free so we'll split the costs of my flights. But still... ouch.

Edit: Make that £445 for a return... I didn't think price comparison sites would vary THAT much lol

theres just one question

atleast youll have the terminator running the place

hasn;t his term just ended? you may just escape him as hes been the most unpopular governor ever according to the news the other day

@Simonas - Oh yes... grey dreary drizzley england vs sunny california. I've gotta say it didn't take too long for me to decide that it was worth taking a leave of absence (year out) on my degree.

It hasn't been so sunny in CA, lately. Lots of rain and flooding... Literally, disaster areas have been declared.

Term just ended. TBH, he's probably glad to be done. The guy's kind of had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him. Whether he handled it well or not is not up to me to decide, but CA went through a lot. I don't think a week went by during his stint as govenenor, when CA wasn't in the news involved in some natural disaster or something bad. You couldn't pay me to live there right now...

You sure you wanna go?

Isn't it south CA that had all the flooding? And to be fair the UK has been hit by some serious weather stuff lately. I doubt there is much CA could throw at me that I haven't had/had worse in the UK at some point lol. Cept hurricanes... and earthquakes...do they have those?

We had a light dusting of snow here in Nottingham this morning... my dad rings me from sheffield to say he nearly didn't make it home! That's what sheffield is like, if it's going to fall anywhere it falls there.

OMG, C101!!! CA is like earthquake central.. You will be living in the Pacific Ring of FIRE!!!!! I lived in WA, which is two states North, also in the ring. Volcanos and stuff. Mt. St. Helen's anyone? I saw it erupt from my house. CA is on a major fault line. It's the pacific plant colliding and messing around with the North American plates and the Asian plates. Hurricanes not so much, that's more my neck of the woods in FL. However, you must watch for the occasional Pacific Hurricane. Baja got hit with a tropical storm, a trifle really. In FL, we would have still gone to work.

But don't worry, CA buildings have a rigorous Eathquake code.

WELCOME TO AMERICA!! my uncle lives in California he lives in the capital sanfransico. Will you be getting any knew fish in cali?

   I was wondering who was going to post this? I really wanted a Native to do it. I lived in WA, so didn't seem right to interfere. The capital of WA is Olympia, not Seattle, like many say. The capital of FL is not Miami, but Tallahassee. The capital of IL, is Springfield, not Chicago. Oh geography!

llj

My geography is awful.

Firstly I didn't know LA was in California  (Obviously I did as soon as the offer came up cause I looked it up).

And I let a little thing like it being on a major fault line pass me by! Lol
Oh well, I'll just make sure we rent a 'new build' apartment. :D

I was surprised that no one else had mentioned it. That's actually the first time I've seen someone say that San Francisco is the capital... most people think it's Los Angeles. San Francisco is sometimes called the "gay capital"... maybe that was the confusion. Of course, ALL of the capitals were chosen so long ago that none of them make sense because they usually aren't the cities that ended up getting huge. I think Sacramento is like the seventh largest city here.

I wouldn't worry about earthquakes, Curiosity. I've only been in one decent-sized one, and quakes that are large enough to notice are neither as frequent nor as traumatizing as most people seem to think. If you happen to be near something hanging you may notice it swaying a little, and then you'll realize it was an earthquake if they mention it in the news.

I'm not too worried about them to be honest. I figure if people live their all year round it can't be that bad. lol.

What I am worried (or well...shocked) about is rent!!! 600 sq ft of 1 bedroom apartment avg $850-900
