Hi, I'm very new to guppies! I have just purchased my first group, two pregnant females about a week ago... One of my females now looks very distressed she is staying on the bottom of the tank and not swimming around at all but her gravid spot is not large and she is not big either. I have witnessed the other female chasing her a bit and I am hoping she is not injured, Like I said her gravid spot is still fairly small and her belly is as well...
Is there any way to tell if she is sick or just ready to release fry? Her tail is bitten up a little... Should I move her to the breeding net, or wait it out??? HELP!

are you shure the one thats chasing her is a female cause the males can sometimes chase them and bug them while their pregant....?? i reckon that shes just trying to hide from the other fish that is annoying her... yeah

im kinda new so if anyone has any corrections dont hesisitate

yeah im sure its a female chasing her its actually a very pregnant female with a big belly and large gravid spot, my only male guppy in my 55 gal tank wants nothing to do with the female guppies but will not leave my female platys side...

ummm no not really maye she just nesting (getting ready to have babys) dunno if this can take a while or not ?? my females pregnant with her first fry atm too and she seems to be normal but maybe their just acting differently cause shes pregnant

hi,
how is she now? is she eating, guppys can be weak fish to start with ,some times they just cant take the stress of being moved in to a new tank, make sure there are hiding places. donna

The same happened to me when i purchased a seemingly healthy but pregnant guppy a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately that night she died... it is most probably due to the stress caused by moving them... i now only have 2 guppies left so need to restock as long as I can find a stronger guppy shop.

Hope she pulls through!

She is still not doing so great... -_- But I can't really put my finger on it She is def. pregnant but I really don't think she is close to dropping fry... She still is not eating and not swimming around at all, She was getting picked on bit by some other fish in my 55 gal so I have moved her to a large breeding net in the same tank while I treat the entire thing with Melafix just in case... I have done a few doses and have not seen any change None of the other fish in this tank have any problems my stats are great... I don't know what else I can really do other than wait it out I guess  I will keep you all updated as to her status and whether she gets better or not.... Thanks for caring guys! I'm so worried :byebye:

yeah, im stuck i dont know whats going on :( one of my male guppys was on the bottom of the tank and then died after about a day so yeah
hope she gets better

:rip: Unfortunately she died today :byebye: I am so sad this is my first ever casualty... I still haven't figured out what was wrong but every one else in the tank seems fine.

Should I do a complete water change or continue the melafix or any thing else to make sure nobody else has what she did? I'm not really sure what to do when a fix in a community tank dies?... I will definately keep a very close eye on everyone else...

Sometimes you just happen to get a bad fish ya know... theres not much you can do about it really. Did you notice if her poop looked white and stringy (I know they all look stringy, but stringier is what I mean) Sorry for your guppy loss... I lost my 2 1/2 year old guppy a few months ago and she was doing the things you mentioned, not eating, staying at the bottom... its like alot of pets, they know they are ill and try and hide it by hiding somewheres for a peaceful death. I can only imagine that my female died from old age. Good luck with your other ones.

omg, sorry about your loss :( that happened to me to one of my males just died did the same thing as yours did and it died my other two were fine though really sorry about your loss :( :( :(
