h, i'm writing up a thing on hybrids and all the common crosses. can anyone provide me with pictures of all their and any information they can give. mostly regarding parentage and expected sizes. but any other info will be appreciated. just give me the name of which you want the credit to go to and i will use it in my work, giving you the appropriate credit.

by parents i mean, what fish do you use and which is usually the mle and the female. i am writing up a report on how the guestimate the size of a hybrid that you buy so as you don't get to shocked when that little 1" fish you bought grows up to 10" or so. the info doesn't need to be of just cichlids, but if you have info on hybrids from livebearers, loaches, plecos, etc... basically if you have a pic, know the parents and the size the fish should get then i can use it. but even if you kow of the hybrid providing info will be good dso others can help contribute. like i said please let me know who to give credit to.

thanks in advanced.

hei, this pic may not be the best but taking pictures and uploading them is v. hard for me but i managed a picture of my 8" male bp.
malebp.jpg

his name is honditar and he is the boss of the tank.
he is quiet bigh and im still not sure if he is a kong, most likely a normal blood parrot wich has the parentage of golden severum + red devil.
they are easy to care and live in my tank with a large gar, oscars a green terror.
hope this info will help you :)

if you decide to use this put the credit to loki fjordenheim.
regards kubora666.

I can post up some pics of my hybirds.

Btw the severum thing has never been proven, its more likely to be red devil/midas x synspillum.

thanks for the info. can you post pics of your hybrids ~T~? also the info that you know about them along with who to give credit to. thans.

also thanks kubora666 for your contribution, i may use your pic as it is a pretty decent picture of a BP. also do you have any other hybrids?

any info on nown crosses are accepted. if ou own a cross or now someone who does and it isn't "common" i will use that as well.

any others are welcome!!!

:good:

This was an accident really, I had my male sajica in the planted tank cos he was sick and when I was doing a waterchange removing the decor to clean in my big tank I found half a dozen fry from the JB and con that were hiding so I moved them to the planted tank to grow on.After they became sexually mature the pink one(the rest were striped)paired with the sajica and the rest as was history :D

Woah, that's a nifty looking fish T! :good:

that is quite a fish. do you hve any fry left/ how big do you expect them to get? would they work in a 55 gal along with a JB parrot and just those 2 (for now)? just asking for both research and personal gain. yes i now, its a double edged sword.

Shes quite small at about 2.5" although she has a lot of attitude and just now is flirting like mad with a young midas im growing on for someone. The rest of the fry have either died or have been given away to responsible owners. My mate still has 6-8 and he says they are all less than 4".I had kept another female that was more JB shaped but she had what looked like a fit one day :( .So yes it would be a good partner for a JB in a 55 as mine does indeed live with a JB(her grandfather).

Heres a few more pics, my big female BP Boss, I have had her about 4-5 years.

thats too bad, hmm just noticed you were in scotland while i am in the US, so it wouldn't work me getting some from you  maybe i can find someone in the states that has some. again this is where i wish i were in europe .

btw thats a nice texis mix you have. too bad you don't now what elseis in him.

okay i have another task for you fine people. if you know what the parents of your hybrid is (like which species the male was and which the female) and know the size that the fish will get or what it grew to please let me know. i am working on a theory of how to tell the size of a hybrid based off of parents and need to get some further research first.

thanks again guys/girls

Ok Father was a JB of about 3" and the mother was the BP that I have posted and she was about 5-6" then and is about 7-8" now.

The fry ranged from 3" to 7-8" (and seemed to be still growing when they were given away).

Heres pics.
