Can someone point me toward a database of fish catagorized by pH requirements, if you've seen one around? Or maybe offer some suggestions and collect said database here?

Thanks!

Most Central American Cichlids will do fine in a pH of 7 to 7.8, but if you are looking for fish that will thrive in a pH higher than this then you are limited to fish from the the African rift valley lakes and brackish/marine fish really.

Unless your PH is excessively high (above 8.3) most common aquarium fish will do absolutely fine in your water. A lot of people think that the PH of the water in the wild is what the fish needs to live and thrive, but in most cases this is not the case.

take or leave freddyuk's advice its upto you. :/

this is true of a lot of common community fish but be aware this IS NOT always the case, especially if you are planning on breeding.

there is also a big difference in thrieving and surviving.

personally i would prefer all my fish to thrive, and that means giving them optimum conditions.

hope that helps
