hi im looking to buy fish but i want to find a cool type of fish... if anyone has suggestions, can you list the name of the fish and a picture of them? Thank you everyone, i appreciate your help. :)

Cool is relative. I have many fish that I enjoy but others wouldn't like them. Others have fish they enjoy that I wouldn't ever get. etc More info would help greatly and give you better answers.

1. What size when mature? What's too big or small for you?

2. Lone fish or fish that can be kept with others?

3. If with others, conspecifics only?

4. Aggressive or don't care?

5. Personality or don't care?

6. Any color preference?

7. What size tank are you keeping him/them in when you first purchase it/them?

8. What size are you willing to upgrade to as a maximum and what timeline can you buy it in?

im looking for some fish that are about 1, 1.5, 2 inches long, good with community fish (i have 5 cardinal tetras and 5 bloodfin tetras right now and some corys on the bottom). I wouldn't like aggressive ones. I like fish that dont have such a jumpy way about them (like they are always scared all the time), but if they are jumpy, like my bloodfin tetras, i wont really mind. I would like a color that stands out, such as reds, blues, any color that does not match with gravel color (my gravel is a natural, light brown color). Thats about all i can say for what i want...

if you have a tropical tank i think that 2x dwarf honey gourami would suit your community tank fine they are about 3 cm long wich is about 1.2inch

they are not jumpy they are quite laid back which is just what you want  they are a beutiful fish they shine golden yellow

With your last post it looks like you are settling in on something you like.

I wanted to say that I hope my last post didn't come off too strong. It wasn't meant to be. I just wanted you to get as much help as possible.

Hopefully others will give you plenty of suggestions now, also.

BTW, from your first post I was going to suggest an Irritans. One of my favorite fish. That's something you most definitely don't want after seeing your reply to my post. lol

Gatorbait, i didnt see that post in a bad way at all. I found it very helpful. Im going to look at those fish that you told me about. Thank you :).

I'm glad. :)

But no do NOT get that Irritans!!! They are EXTREMELY aggressive! That's not the type of fish you were asking for, after seeing your other posts.

I've had a couple and am getting either that or a Black Rhom this week. They will kill anything else in their tank, no matter what it is. They don't just kill to eat, they also kill to keep everytihng "out of their territory". You won't be able to keep him with anything else. I kept mine in a 55g tank all alone.

I couldn't even walk by the tank without him trying to attack the glass to get at me. He especially hated my dog and would ram the glass to get to him. You won't be able to stick your hand in there unless you're VERY careful.

You said you wanted a nice fish so this is definitely one that you don't want to get.

The Irritans Piranha not only is it rare, it's one of the most aggressive piranhas. They must be kept by themselves since they will destroy any thing that moves. If you are looking for a super mean Piranha this is the species to get.

But they aren't rare in the hobby. Don't know why everyone says that.

haha wow ok i dont think ill be getting one of those. I was thinking about tiger barbs. Are they aggressive?

They aren't agressive but are nippy. I wouldn't add them to any tank with long-finned fish and keep them in groups of at least 6-8 to keep them occupied more with each other.

I was looking for the exact same thing and I went with platys. They swim around very relaxedly and are a nice bright red.
