Looking For A Small Plec For Comunity Tank

im looking for a plec but it must be ok with corys. i saw candy stripe plecs at lfs today but have read they dont like corys, is this true? i am going to either put it in my 240L com tank or in my 100L cory/black neon tetra tank. can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Have you had a look at the bulldog pleco does not grow anymore than 8cm
and are generally a social species none aggressive

What specifically are you looking for?, which tank are you going to actually use?.

Certain plecs that would be able to be put in the 240 may not be suitable for the 100.


There are loads that will be ok with cory's tbh most would be ok including the L15 you've mentioned.

Others are most BN's, various others IE..... 260's, 66's, 333's, 411's, 340's etc others like 134's, 199's, 129's, 104's pretty much any smaller species would be fine. Golden nuggets could get a bit aggressive but when ive kept them with cory's, they always seem to get on fine..... obviously commons and the like are out of the question but you will already know that so..... yes plenty to go by

Really it's weather cory's are actually suitable for the plecs conditions.. IE temps, usually soft water etc etc.

my cory tank 100L will be at about 24 degrees C, sand substrate, bog and mopani wood, no plants just moss balls.
my 240L is a bit higher temp at about 25/26 C, fine gravel substrate, loads of bogwood, java moss and moss balls, lots of fake plants. this tank gets quite alot of green dust algae as its in the conservatory......
both tanks are at pH 7.4 and my water is hard in leicestershire. i am hoping to add either peat, black water treatment or almond leaves to the cory tank and make it really dark and dingy - all these things lower pH too apparently but dont want to go lower than 7/ 7.2 as i will have shrimp/snails so will have to go easy on what i use.....
ive never thought of having a plec before but wanted one in my cory tank after seeing some at lfs, im trying to keep it amazon if poss. it will have green and orange striped corys and black neon tetras and a hill stream loach. i dont think i will be able to fit one in my main tank to be honest as its pretty well stocked so i will want 1 for my 100L.
