Looking For A Group Of 12/15 Tetras Or Small Barbs

Well in the lfs today I saw midnight emperor tetras (mostly black, but with blue eyes - quite cool), silvertip tetras, serpae tetras and they also had albino tiger barbs which were quite pretty, but I'm not 100% convinced by any of them...

I guess I'll have to wait until I have everything else in there and then see what's available. Can't add fish til next wk at earliest and then it will be gouramis assuming I can find some by then. Probably no point in deciding now because I'll only change my mind!

Lemon tetras or X-ray tetras are a good choice, they have deeper bodies and wont be viewed as food by the angels, whereas neons and cardinals def would dissappear when ur angels fancy a nibble. I would avoid flame tetras and def silver tips and serpae as they are notorious fin nippers. Other choices which i personally like are black phantom tetras or red phnatom tetras, they can be a bit shy when not kept in a big enough group but the males have stunning fins and they are hardy and easy to keep. Get a mixture of males and females and u will see them display a really nice sight to see.

I have seen red phantom tetras be pretty fin-nippy and aggressive.

really, u sure they werent serpea tetras they look similar and could be misnamed

Doesn't matter for me anymore - have decided against any kind of shoaling fish I think. It's just not worth the risk. I'm going for things which will get WAY larger than the angels seens as that;s what they are used to, and setting up another tank (or 2, or maybe even 3) for smaller fish.

If I'm allowed I'll hopefully have another 4 foot community, so then I'll be back for ideas! If I'm allowed... ;)

Interesting thread :good:

Is there a tetra nip or no nip table on this forum seems to me the case for tetra nipping or not comes up quite often. I do not know if it is that easy.

Just an  idea.

Did anyone ever see a pic of a neons mouth close up. The teeth are viscious all tetras have these.
