Hey all,

look at this!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4385225905&rd=1
Nothing against veiltales I love mine dearly, but this is ridiculous!

I quote:
This is a very unique male betta that was specially bred from exquisite, Thai breeding lines!

This betta belongs to a lovely class of bettas with a special type of fin structure called Veil Tail which means that has an extra long tail that starts out full and round and tapers at the end creating a dazzling display of his glorious color!
This particular betta is a *Royal Blue* betta, which means that he sports a beautiful, glowing, royal blue body and fins!

(Shipping is $24.00 :look: )

;) What could be more rare than a glowing veiltale?

Wow, that's AMAZING! Wuv, you should SO buy it for your show lines  ;)

That is just ridiculous.

I love my little VT Jeremiah, and think VT's are gorgeous, but they make it sound as if they are some previously-undiscovered wonder betta!

That aside, it's a very nice fish. Although I wouldn't pay $24 for shipping alone when I can get two crowntails from my LFS for that much...

The sad thing is that someone WILL buy it because they think they're getting a rare specimen. I feel bad for the fish when the person gets it and starts to show it off, and everyone starts telling them they could have gotten the exact same thing for 3.47$ at WalMart.

It's not exactly a new ploy on ebay, but betta momma is right, depending on the item it works better for somethings than others though. One of my fave's are the (not being racist here) Chinese/South East Asia sellers that get on selling "high quility" items for a bargin $10 then charging $100 postage.

Katchan

Looks like the unique, exquiste betta from Thai breeding lines has rather a bit of red wash too

Its a nice betta, but at the price they're wanting for him thats just ridiculous! I've never used ebay before (yes, i realise im probably the only one!!) but are you allowed to mislead possible buyers like that? -_-

Personally i love VT bettas compared to all the other types/variations but i know when it comes down to it they are the mutts of the betta world and they are too common for their own good- its not the hyping up of this particular VT that i have a problem with, but the way they make the betta appear as if its some super quality breeding betta and the fact that whoever buys it will probably attempt to breed it like so many newb's to bettas and that will only result in more VT mutts.
Blue and red VT's are some of the most common bettas out there, i see them every week at my lfs for £2 each...

Yeah, unfortunately it's a pretty easy market to do whatever you want.
They do ban people for fraud and that kind of stuff, but technically - this person really isn't all out lying (I *guess*). If you read carefully what they say, they're just making veiltails sound like they're really super awesome fish.

I do find this person to be an odd one. ;) Tho the only bettas I've ever bought were from Walmart. I wouldn't spend the same amnt. of money on a fish that I could to get a 2.5 gal. tank...unless that fish was an exceptional breed. Until that day comes...I'll get my lil' mutt boys and girls from Walmart. :)

I've never used ebay either, but my mum has....when I was into anime she got me this Sailor Moon plush I wanted....that's my only personal experiance with ebay. She's sold stuff herself, some computer books and horse books she didn't need anymore. I, actually am a bit on the chicken side of ever using ebay. :D

The person tho, did have good comments from previous buyers, so I guess that's somewhat of a good sign...even tho they're exaggerating a bit in the description. -_-

I think they were selling that fish on aquabid too...

Man, with all those other GORGEOUS rarer fish on aquabid.....I don't really know who would spend $35 on a VT...I'd rather save up and get one of those purple mustard gas plakats :)drool:).

Don't get me wrong, I buy mutts all the time (My favorite fish was a mutt :rip:), but for that money I could get a mutt and a new 10 gal with some accesories.... :)

heh heh, her feedback cracked me up...
Great balls! Very healthy balls!
*snicker*

Aaaaaanyway...he's a lovely veil just the same. I guess her target market is the people who don't have a Wal-Mart
