Not sure if you guys know this, but Panda Garra’s have a suction cup on their chest, as well as their mouths it helps them hold on to slippery surfaces in the highly flowing water they live in, in the wild… no suction cups on the chest of the giants, so they have evolved to hold on with their fins
 
Gobies have fused pelvic fins to act as a suction cup too.

It could be the giant Otos are less evolved than the others or vice versa. Or they come from calmer water and don't need to hang on for dear life and face being swept away by the currents.
 
My little otos hang onto things like this all the time; I should snap a picture of it sometime. My favorite is when they use their fins like little landing gear to perch on a rock.
