i have 5 black neons and for about 3 days now i have noticed that one of them stays away from all the other fish in the tank and i dont know why
any ideas ?

Spooked by the move? Injured in the catch/transfer?

Is the one that's staying away swimming differently? Is it eating?

it hasnt been moved or trasferd... i ment it has only been doing it for 3 days... well 4 now... it isnt swimming differently to the others i whenever i feed it comes out and gets some

Okay then. How old is the fish?

i have had them for about a year and a half and are full size and were half the size when i got them

What is your water chemistry like? I'm thinking soft water fish in hard water for 18 months. Kidney failure?

ive got the same thing, iv even got 1 lone neon that schools with the blacks, but my 1
outkast black is a lot smaller than the rest.

the ph level is just under 7

It is more hardness and dissolved salts then pH that reduces the life span of tetras etc.
