Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much for the last few months but I have been very busy!

Anyway, I was wondering if you had any ideas for an office fishtank. It's only small (12 US gallon). I want something bright and attractive. Something to relax me when working :p

12 gallon woud be great for a betta! bright, active, incredibly attractive! And the tank is big enough that you could have a small school of pygmy corys with it too :D

Sounds like a GREAT idea! What would you suggest for plants and substrate?

Corys are best on sand; play sand is probably best as it's soft and super cheap! I'm not an expert on plants, I personally use silk plants with all my tanks, if you do go down the fake plant route, please get silk not plastic, as plastic can catch a bettas fins and tear them :(

12g is a good size for an office tank. My new love is for the Ember tetra. I have just introduced a small (5) shoal to my 15 litre planted. They max out at about 1.5 cm and look great! You'd be able to have a shoal of 10-12 in a 12g IMO. As for plants, you want to be looking at no hassle plants, like Anubias and Java fern.

Ok, my big tank is sand. At the moment I have slate at the substrate in the tank. Ill be getting real plants as always. Ill think of something to put in.

Better not to, the Betta may see the Endlers as competition.
How about this stocking:
1 Betta
12 Ember Tetra/Microrasbora species
6 Cherry Shrimp

my brother has kept endlers and a betta together, but i suppose it depends on the personality of the betta

Pygmy Gourami's, Pygmy Cory's and Shrimp?

Just a thought.

James.

Heyy

IMO if you want a pretty tank which is really colourful having a large mix of tiny fish is a great way of doing it, again that just my opinion.

Here is a list of some really small fishies you could choose from and some links:

Dwarf Corys (Corydoras hastatus) -

Sparkling Gouramis

Celestial Pearl danio (Galaxy Rasbora) - http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/302908-celestial-pearl-danio/

Dwarf Rasbora

btw pygmy corys and dwarf corys are very similar but still need seperate shoals
and if you do get endlers i would suggest getting only males, females are much bigger plus if you have both m and f they will breed all the time and that isnt good for a small tank, they wil overpopulate very fast.
On the bright side males are much more colourful ;)

You could either have 1 or 2 big groups of several species or mix aload of them together, your choice, i am pretty sure the ones listed all work together anyway.

I will let you know if i think of any more!
I hope this helps and please feel free to pm or email me if you are ever suck with anything else :) x x x

Thought of another one however these are better off in single species tanks and brackish water here are some profiles

Oh and another one! If you are lucky enough to find them Emerald Rasbora are brilliant fish, i am having difficulties finding a profile for them because they are so rare but here are two links i found -

Chilli rasbora or Mosquito rasbora anre also great fish, again if you can find them. I am having trouble finding a profile for them but there scientific name is boras brigittae.

Ok just found one -
