my puppy was just dignosed with long led syndrome. she has been in pain all last week so we took her to the vet to get some x rays, where she was dignosed. the vet said this is a common problem in large breed dogs (she is a lab).
i was wondering if anyone elses dogs has, or had this and tell me what to expect, and how to help her out.

what has your vet advised you do? did he give you any medication for her?

there is some info on here: http://www.ivis.org/special_books/ortho/chapter_49/IVIS.pdf but it's a bit long-winded

Long leg syndrome? Never heard of it. Long Bone Disease on the other hand is called Panoesteitis which is basically growing pains. Very common in large breeds. They usually grow out of it at about the age when they are full grown in height usually about 18 months or so. Your absolute best bet is to limit activity (crating is best) until they are done limping and let them continue normal when they are not in a growth spurt. DO NOT give aspirin. Aspirin is bad for dogs stomachs. The problem with normal activity is that because they are limping and not walking correctly it causes strain on other muscles.

thank you guys, the articles and info are helping. i have learned alot over the last few days. and your advice shelby will be taken to heart.
